CalMTA is looking for two new members to join our Equity Sounding Board with recruitment running through Dec. 4. We’re particularly interested in individuals working in:
- Economic development
- Finance
- Policy advocacy
If you are advocate for, or work within, ESJ communities, and are passionate about supporting equitable market transformation efforts in California, we invite you to apply or share with others who may be a good candidate for this role. We hope to bring together people with different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives to help us better understand and respond to the needs of California’s diverse communities.
Purpose and responsibilities of the Equity Sounding Board
The Equity Sounding Board supports our efforts to apply an equity lens in the development and implementation of a market transformation portfolio. This group helps guide CalMTA’s outreach to ESJ communities and avoid actions that would cause unforeseen harm. The Equity Sounding Board also provides feedback on market transformation initiatives (MTIs) selected by CalMTA.
Term of appointment & Stipend
Equity Sounding Board members serve three-year terms with the ability to reapply for one additional term.
Members are paid a stipend of $800 for participation in each of three to four virtual Equity Sounding Board meetings a year. The stipend covers the member for both meeting and preparation time on the assumption that total meeting and preparation time is four hours.
For any in-person meetings, members will receive $200 per hour for participation and preparation, plus a $300 travel stipend. Members will also be compensated for individual or small-group consultation at a rate of $200 per hour, up to 13 hours per year.
Please contact Laura Shapiro if you have questions about the Equity Sounding Board or the application process.
